MEC Gatineau Park Marathon

Free training programs for the MEC Gatineau Park Marathon

 

Our free training plans are at the heart of our mission: foster collaboration between elite athletes and their community.


Elite athletes put their experience at the service of recreational athletes by developing high quality and motivating training programs.

Recreational athletes who benefited from their free training program are encouraged to support these athletes by making a donation to them.

United for sport and its mentors offer athletes a unique blend of support, resources, and tools.

Free training programs to prepare for the MEC Gatineau Park marathon and half marathon 2017


 

These 8-week training programs are the result of countless hours of work from Olivier Babineau and Maxime Leboeuf, athlete-coaches with United for sport. We hope that they will help you progress and remain motivated throughout your preparation for this unique event Canadian event.

Olivier and Maxime offer you simple programs that suggest a conservative workload on weekdays. Every Sunday, you are recommended a more difficult workout, both in terms of effort and overall distance. These programs are therefore recommended for runners who have a busy schedule, but still want to be well prepared for race day.

Free group training

In collaboration with MEC, United for sport athletes will host two free group training sessions in Gatineau Park.

These are great opportunities to become familiar with the course and get valuable advice from our top athletes. The workout details are included in the training plans.

Training 1: 10 September 2017, 8AM, Meet at P8 parking lot in the Gatineau Park

Training 2: 1 October 2017, 8AM, Meet at P8 parking lot in the Gatineau Park

Cost: Free. United for sport recommends you make a 10$ donation to the athletes who lead the workout. Donations can be made on the day of the workout or online by clicking on the link above.   


Marathon programs

Intermediate

Designed for runners who can:

- have run 3 to 5 days a week over the last 3 months, have run 25 to 45 km per week over the last 3 months, have some experience with interval training;

 

Beginner

Designed for runners who :

- have exercised 4 to 6 days a week over the last 3 months, have run 15 to 35 km per week over the last 3 months, are beginners whose primary goal is to finish the marathon;


Half marathon programs

Intermediate

Designed for runners who :

- have run 2 to 5 days a week over the last 3 months, have run 15 to 35 km per week over the last 3 months, have some experience with interval training;

 

Beginner

Designed for runners who :

- have exercised 3 to 5 days a week over the last 3 months, have run 15 to 30 km per week over the last 3 months, are beginners whose primary goal is to finish the marathon;
